Review: The ground beneath our feet, Leslie McAdam

Imagen
The Ground Beneath Our Feet by Leslie McAdam My rating: 3 of 5 stars This book speaks about subjects that matter, it's a story about self acceptance and self love. It is about overcoming your past and taking the leap for your future. Jessica is a young woman who is diagnosed as obese and with diabetic conditions. With ghosts from her past hunting her, she always seeked comfort in food. When she finally decides to start making choices to improve her life, and she moves to Santa Barbara, she meets Mikey, a hot veterinarian who sees her, really sees her, and won't stop until he gets the answer he wants from her. But Mikey also has a past to hide. Will they be able to heal? The premise of the story was hooking, the characters were interesting, but unfortunately, and I feel really bad about it, I couldn't quite connect with it as pretty much everyone else did. I particulary am more fond of action than inner monologue and I think that's what maybe didn't do it

Review: Hamlet, Shakespeare

Imagen

I'm having trouble to write this review because I thought I'd love this story but I didn't. The premise was good but the development didn't live up to it, at least not for me. BLURB Fate. Review: Tonic

Imagen
Tonic by Staci Hart My rating: 3 of 5 stars This was my first book by Staci Hart and I'd love to read more from her! Tonic is a romantic comedy, it's a standalone and it reads fast! It's a funny story, one that will hook you easily, with a bit of angst for some moments and lots of love and passion. I read it in two days and I'd have read it faster if I've had the time. I like Staci's writing style, she guided the reader with lots of action lines that keep the pace up. Regarding the characters I want to say that I really like Annika's passion for her work, I like heroines to be smart and independent and she was one. Joel, the heroe, was swoonworthy, although he also was a drama king (seriously, Joel? Chill a bit! lol). He was really sweet and caring and he respected Annika's decisions. The secondary characters gave the story a cute background, specially Anikka's niece. In conclusion, this was a sweet read and I'

Review: A Love Letter to Whiskey

Imagen
A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner My rating: 3 of 5 stars BLURB It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long. Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us. It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle. It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less. But we can’t start here. No, to tell this story right, we need to go back. Back to the beginning. Back to the very first drop. This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it. MY OPINION Okay, so this is a very difficult review for me to write. I was confused when I finished it. I wanted to love it as I've love Weightless (her previous release), I thought I would, but unfortuna

Review: The Silent Waters

Imagen
The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry My rating: 5 of 5 stars A review to the girl who made me cry I feel there's not enough words to describe how powerful and soul shaking this read is, in the most beautiful way, may I add. It's been a while since I read something that touched me so deeply, that made me ugly cry, laugh and fall in love at the same time. It's been a while since a book changed me. Therefore, it's also been a while since my last 5 stars read, but this book deserves all the stars in the sky. When I signed to read this I realized I was going to be gifted with the possibility of reading a beautiful book, but it wasn't until I held it in my hands that I actually felt how excellent and moving this was going to be. When a book starts with a dedication of the author that says: "To the drifters like me who float away. To the anchors who always bring us home" you have to know that you are preparing yourself fo

Review: When Stars Collide

When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer My rating: 3 of 5 stars Real rating: 3.5 stars Title: When stars collide Series: Light in the Dark #2 Genre: Romance/New Adult Publication date: August, 30th, 2016 BLURB We were like two stars orbiting each other—dancing around the possibility that one day we might collide. When we finally did, we opened up a black hole, obliterating everything around us. No one would be the same. Least of all, us. MY OPINION "Home?", she asks. "Home", I echo. I know she's talking about a place, but I'm talking about her. This is a difficult review for me to write, because I totally love it at some points (my teenager giggling version would probably give it 5 stars), but at some others I felt like things were missing. "Have I told you lately that you're my favorite person?" This is the story of Thea (19) and Xander (22), who wake up married in Vegas ', at first remembering little of

Review: Prisoned

Prisoned by Marni Mann My rating: 2 of 5 stars Real rating: 2.5 Title (Título): Prisoned Author (Autor): Marni Mann Genre (Género): Dark romance/Dark Publication date (Fecha de publicación): August, 22nd, 2016 Ver todas mis reseñas | View all my reviews *Pronto la reseña en español* Good plot, not so god plotting. The book is narrated in two time spaces, present and past, and with two POVs (Kyle's and Garin's). It starts at their teenage years, introducing them and their best friend Billy, who live in a very poor neighbourhood and dedicate to steel and sell drugs to survive. Then it rushes to the present time where Billy has died from an overdose. Kyle and Garin haven't seen each other in more than ten years, since Paulie's (Billy's brother) death, but the funeral of him brings them both together again. Kyle, however holds a big secret that she can't tell no matter how much guilt it brings her, because if she did it would kill

Review: It Ends with Us

Imagen
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover My rating: 5 of 5 stars (Pronto también es Español) There's not enough stars to rate this powerful read image: This review is really hard to write because I don't really want to say anything that will give you the smallest hint of what this book is about. I was told to go in blind and it was the best advice I ever took. Hoover you nailed it again and best than ever, this is your most beautiful, heartbreaking, powerful and healing book. No one besides you could have told this story with the beauty and care that you did. This isn't a romance novel, this is a book about life. About many people's lives and it embraces them in a way that is as angsty as empathizing. This book is an eye opener. I'm not sure if Colleen has realized how much impact it will have, how many souls it will touch and change. This is one of those books that will completely impact on you. You will devour it and feel every single

Review: The First Taste

Imagen
The First Taste by Jessica Hawkins My rating: 4 of 5 stars My first taste of Jessica Hawkins was delicious The first taste is the second installment of The slip of the tongue series, though it can be read as a standalone. There are characters from the first novel that make an appearance though, so if you don't want to spoil anything you should probably read it first. TFT follows the story of Andrew, a devoted loving single father, lover of bikes and tattoos (don't let this fool you, he's not an alpha j*rk at all), who was left four years ago by Shana (the mother of his daughter, Bell) and promised to never fall in love again. He's committed to his girl's happiness and wants nothing more from life than seeing her grow. That's why when Amelia enters his life she's the perfect match. Amelia is the head of a Beauty PR agency, soon to be divorced from her cheating husband. Her work is her life and she plans for it to stay that

Him or Me by Veronica Larsen My rating: 3 of 5 stars 3.5 stars, sweet friends to lovers read I'm so glad I read this second installment of this duet of bite sized romances. I love this. I totally did. The story is sweet, funny and adorable. I read it in one sitting. It makes a perfect summer, fast and light, read. Grace and Heath are very funny people, they're outgoing and work together perfectly. I could totally feel their chemistry. I also liked the details about the characters that were previously presented in this series. It was very warming to see their friendship develop.
